Enchanting Elixir

The first day I sauntered into the shop, it was one of those days when you are looking for a little thrill, completely ignoring the state of your bank account, or trying to liven up the boredom of a 9-5 routine.

I walked into the shop, it was Ramadhan, and by natural instinct you start to smell everything. Ignore the first part of this story, you learnt about this place from your former employer because you had been given a gift hamper of goodies from this particular brand and you were looking for a birthday present for your in-law because, well, Mr Creative had run out of ideas.

So you automatically picked a hamper in her favourite colour, turquoise blue, that was easy. Then you went sniffing around until you found it. Her rich, intoxicating scent, satiating, heavy, intoxicating.  You tried it on your hands, smoothed it intensely, cupped your hands to catch a few whiffs, bought a jar and off you went. That evening at dinner you made everyone smell your hands, because what is this magic on you? No-one understood, of course, but you had just discovered it.

The next day, punctually at 5pm. You made sure it was Gitahi’s turn to cook. You came home, took a shower and massaged on the cream. You put on your most comfortable jogging suit and crawled into bed.  Pulled the covers over your head and inhaled. Slow, deep, rhythmic breaths, eyes closed, because this, this captivating scent, is heaven. It helped that it was winter twilight, the warmth only intensifying the scent. This, yes this, I had finally met her.
